CHANGE is afoot at a popular York city centre eatery.

The York Roast Co’s Low Petergate branch has revealed that it will be reopening next month with a fresh new menu after a major renovation project to renovate the building, customer facilities, and décor.

The shop closed its doors on Monday, September 7, with a social media post made prior to the closure saying that it will “work on something exciting behind the scenes".

The windows of the shop have been covered whilst the renovation takes place, however new equipment was spotted outside the shop last week ready to be moved in.

Managing Director of The York Roast Co’, Stephen Chadwick, said: “Both of our city centre stores are housed in historic buildings in the heart of an historic city and inevitably need a bit of TLC from time to time.

“The refurbishment work currently underway at our Low Petergate store is being done sensitively and in keeping with both the building and our ongoing plans to develop the business.”

A post made to social media on Sunday, September 20 showed a preview of the new menu which included sandwiches with roast meat, loaded roast potatoes, and pictures of the company’s signature Yorkshire Pudding wrap.

Stephen added: “The store will reopen shortly with a fresh new menu and new branding. We know our customers will love the new look - and we can’t wait to welcome them back.”

The York Roast Co is a family-run business founded in Yorkshire probably best known for its signature YorkyPud Wrap, which first went viral in 2017 with its unique take on the traditional roast dinner, although the menu also offers sandwiches and sides.

The wrap combines roast meats, vegetables and stuffing inside a giant Yorkshire pudding.

The company also has a store in Chester.
