New convenience store with burger hut opens in York
The Budgens and Cream Hut opened in Lawrence Street on Saturday, September 26
A NEW convenience store has opened in York, with a unique second business running alongside.
Budgens opened in Lawrence Street on Saturday, September 26, in the shadow of Walmgate Bar, on the site of the former York Cycleworks which closed almost exactly a year ago after 45 years in the city.
The manager told The Press up to 17 full and part-time roles have been created for the new store which will open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The premises includes access to Cream Hut, a grill and desserts counter run by the same company, which specialises in burgers, wraps, rice boxes, coffees, desserts and shakes, which serves customers from midday until 11pm daily.

Budgens stores are independently owned and operated, and the brand is part of Booker Group and today has more than 260 stores, varying from petrol forecourts to neighbourhood supermarkets.
The Cream Hut operates at several Budgens locations.
The Lawrence Street store offers a full range of groceries, coffee, alcohol, and household goods, along with its grill and dessert counter.
It follows news of another Budgens opening in Woodthorpe last month, along with stores in Riccall and Tockwith.
