School children help shape a new play area in York

The new Crombie Avenue Play Area at Clifton in York is open.

The play area has lots of fun equipment, including slides, swings, climbing frames, monkey bars, a roundabout and sensory play features.

It has been designed so children of different ages and abilities can play together.

The new play area was shaped by ideas from people living in Clifton, including school children from Clifton Green and Burton Green Primary School.

It is one of several play areas being improved through the council’s £750,000 Parks Investment Fund, with additional developer contributions and other funding bringing the wider parks improvement programme to around £925,000.

Improvements have already taken place in Westfield, Clifton and Hull Road, with more projects due to be completed over the next six months.
