Police officers carried out immigration checks at barbers and takeaways in three villages.
The Craven Neighbourhood Policing Team visited businesses in Bentham, Ingleton and Settle last week during a day of enforcement and engagement.
A Craven NPT spokesperson said: "On Thursday, September 24, officers from the Craven Neighbourhood Policing Team visited barbers and takeaway businesses in Bentham, Ingleton and Settle as part of a day of proactive engagement and enforcement activity.
"Working alongside partners and the Home Office, checks were conducted in relation to the immigration status of individuals employed at a number of premises across the area."
Officers also warned business owners and the public about money laundering and its warning signs.
The spokesperson added: "By working together with our communities, we can help identify criminal activity, protect legitimate businesses and ensure Craven remains a safe place to live, work and visit."
North Yorkshire Police urged residents to report concerns about criminal activity on 101 or through the force’s website.
In emergencies, people should always call 999.
