The beautifully designed interiors of Bazaar Restaurant create a warm and welcoming ambience for its guests in the heart of Middlesbrough's Captain Cook Square.

Behind that atmosphere is chef-owner Tarek Thoma, who trained under Marco Pierre White at L'Escargot in London before going on to cook for state visits, including for George Bush and Tony Blair.

Mr Thoma has been a restaurateur for over 30 years and is proud of Bazaar’s food. Guests can indulge in high-quality, locally sourced, fresh ingredients during their meal.

Visitors to the establishment can enjoy a variety of menus. There are Neapolitan pizzas fired in the largest indoor wood-fired pizza oven in Europe, made with 48-hour fermented sourdough, San Marzano tomatoes and Fior di latte mozzarella, as well as standout dishes like the Lebanese Charcoal Sharing Platter – sirloin, ribeye, lamb kofta and lamb shoulder makloubeh with a full spread of mezzes.

Plus, Bazaar offers steaks dry-aged in a Himalayan salt chamber and flame-grilled over charcoal in its Josper oven. The 12oz sirloin steak shawarma is an experience in itself – a dish that says everything about Bazaar's way of taking two culinary worlds and putting them on one plate.

Then there's dessert. Bazaar's dessert menu has become a destination in its own right – entirely homemade, and featuring recipes diners won't find anywhere else in the North East, including a layered Dubai chocolate fudge cake, a honey cake diners keep coming back for, and a pecan pie baklava.

Plus, Bazaar’s chefs go one step further – they cook in front of the customers! The kitchen is open to view from the dining room, creating a real spectacle. It is quite the memorable experience for diners.

Mr Thoma said: “One of the great things about this restaurant is the fact that the kitchen is open to the public and we cook in front of our customers. Customers can also see the high-quality food on offer within glass fronted fridges from their tables – nothing is hidden.

“I would feel confident showing anybody around the restaurant as we take pride in our cleanliness and hygiene standards and the fact we serve the best quality, locally sourced fresh food.”

As there’s a wide variety of dishes and something for everyone to join, Bazaar is the ideal place to host all sorts of gatherings. From birthday bottomless brunches and Sunday lunch with the family to an exclusive group set-up in the private dining room, no matter the occasion, this is the place. The restaurant is even open on Christmas Day!

With the new Christmas menu now being finalised, party season is set to be Bazaar's biggest yet, and the people of Middlesbrough can celebrate in style with fabulous food, classy cocktails and superb service.

“With Bazaar, we are very proud of the fact we have been trying to create something positive and be part of efforts to regenerate the town centre. We are committed to continuing with those efforts; to make Middlesbrough a place people want to visit and spend their hard-earned money in their leisure time.”
