Taking place across the county on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026 (11am – 4pm), the weekend gives visitors a rare chance to explore the hidden spaces where art comes to life, meet local creators, and discover one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts.
Organised by the artist-run collective North Yorkshire Open Studios (NYOS), the event showcases a massive variety of styles, media, and subjects. Venues range from a former sawmill in the Dales to stunning courtyard gardens across the district.
Local Highlights
Among the dozens of regional creators opening their doors are notable figures based right here in the Harrogate area:
- Frances Tabbernor (Harrogate): Operating from her studio on Tewit Well Road, Frances paints landscapes alive with memory, water, and sky. Her distinct work has previously featured on the BBC’sThe Great British Sewing Bee.
- Charcoal North (Harrogate): The painting and drawing specialist will be welcoming the public to their studio space located at 79 Otley Road.
Garth Bayley, Project Manager at NYOS, said:
Winter Open Studios is about connecting people with the people behind the art. There’s something incredibly special about buying a Christmas gift directly from the person who made it, right in the space where it was created.
Entry to all studio venues across the weekend is completely free.
