A Yorkshire-based wellness business is offering floating sound baths at swimming pools in the UK.
Synergy Body & Mind, run by partners Emma and Calum from Yorkshire, specialises in these unique sessions where guests relax on floating air beds in swimming pools while experiencing a live sound bath.
This involves the use of therapeutic instruments such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs, handpan, and chimes.
The water adds an extra dimension to the experience, with guests supported by the gentle movement of the pool, creating a deeply immersive environment.
People remain fully clothed, stepping from poolside onto their floating bed, getting comfortable with blankets and pillows for the duration of the session.
The couple launched their floating sound baths in the summer of 2024 and have since taken the experience to various swimming pools, lidos, and outdoor water venues across the UK.
They now collaborate with a growing number of leisure centres and venues, allowing them to deliver events in different areas of the country.
In York, sessions are held at Yearsley Swimming Pool, where they have gained a loyal following.
Their October session at Yearsley is already fully booked, with the next available session on Sunday, December 13.
Further dates are scheduled into 2027.
These sessions offer people an opportunity to disconnect from the constant stimulation of everyday life, for an hour.
Emma said: "There is nowhere to go, nothing to do, and nothing expected of them.
"They can simply lie back, close their eyes, and experience the sound."
The floating element of the sessions makes sound baths more accessible to people who may not have considered attending a traditional meditation or wellness event before.
No previous experience with meditation, yoga, or sound healing is necessary.
The pair have also built a team that allows them to deliver events in different parts of the country.
Alongside floating sound baths, the couple also runs grounded sound baths and collaborative wellness experiences incorporating breathwork, movement, cold water, and sauna.
Emma added: “Rather than sitting or lying on the floor as you would during a traditional sound bath, the water adds another dimension to the experience.
"Guests are gently supported by the movement of the pool while the sound and vibration travel around them, creating a deeply relaxing and immersive environment.”
