A beach in Yorkshire has been named one of the best dog-friendly spots in the UK.

As restrictions on beaches around the UK will be lifted from Thursday, October 1, Inspiring Vet Care has released a list of the top 10 best dog-friendly beaches to visit this autumn.

The beaches can be found in all areas of the UK from Norfolk to Northern Ireland and one along the Yorkshire coast.

The “picturesque” Fraisthorpe beach made it onto the list and might be worth a visit for a family walk this autumn.

What is Fraisthorpe beach like?

Fraisthorpe beach can be found to the south of Bridlington and is known for its “peaceful setting and open landscape”.

The beach is a quieter option for those wanting to avoid popular seaside resorts.

During low tides, the beach has flat sand that stretches for miles, making the beach ideal for long dog walks and beach games.

Close to the beach, you can find the Cow Shed, which is a dog-friendly café where you can enjoy burgers and sandwiches as well as cakes, scones, and traybakes.

You can also get a hot coffee if you need to warm up after your walk.

There is a car park close to the beach that has a pay and display machine.

David Martin, Group Director of Animal Welfare at Inspiring Vet Care, said: “Coastal walks are a brilliant way for dogs to stay active during the summer.

“The shoreline, sand and cool water all offer a mix of exercise and sensory stimulation, giving dogs the chance to stretch their legs and enjoy a sense of freedom that’s different from a normal walk.

“Keep an eye out for common coastal hazards on the beach, such as jellyfish, hidden debris and hot sand.

“If your dog gets into difficulty whilst in the water, never enter the water yourself - instead, contact the emergency services or coastguard for help.

“Taking a few simple precautions can help keep you and your dog safe whilst enjoying a day at the beach.”
