A football club has paid tribute to a former player who suddenly died at the age of 32.
Ex Manchester City academy product Courtney Meppen-Walter, who played for Guiseley between 2022 and 2024, has passed away.
He was jailed for 16 months in 2013 for causing the deaths of two siblings, Kulwant Singh, 32, and Ravel Kaur, 37, by careless driving.
Meppen-Walter was just 18 at the time of the offence in September 2012, and he escaped another prison sentence after being found twice the legal alcohol limit behind the wheel in Manchester in December 2018.
He instead received a 22-month driving ban.
The defender was released by Man City after he was found guilty of the former offence, but after being released from jail early, he joined Carlisle United.
On leaving Brunton Park in 2016, he signed for non-league clubs including Chorley, Stockport County, and Bury.
Meppen-Walter also represented England at Under-17 and Under-18 levels, captaining the latter.
A post of the Guiseley AFC website read: “We are shocked to hear of the passing of our former defender Courtney Meppen-Walter at the tragically young age of 32.
“Our thoughts are with Courtney’s family, friends and former teammates at this sad time.”
