A man who carried out a series of planned, high value raids at a delivery firm’s depot in York has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Hassan Ahmed, 26, stole mobile phones on five different days from DPD, including a burglary at its Northminster depot in York.
York magistrates said the offences were so serious they had to receive a custodial sentence because they showed “significant planning” and were “high value”.
They gave him a 24-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered him to pay £7,882 compensation.
Ahmed, of Canterbury Avenue, Bradford, admitted a burglary committed when he broke into DPD’s Northminster depot on March 25 and stole mobile phones worth £2,683.
He also admitted stealing mobile phones on May 29, June 2, June 3 and June 4 from the same company.
