It happened at around 7.30pm last night in the A163 at Barlby, near the junction with Whitemoor Lane, and involved a blue Land Rover Range Rover SVR and a Massey Ferguson tractor towing a large trailer loaded with hay bales.

The third person in the car – a 17-year-old boy - has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

The driver of the tractor was also taken to hospital for treatment and is helping officers with their enquiries.

The family of the deceased has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A spokesperson added: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to it, or has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.”
