Shop closed after ceiling of Sainsbury's in Sheffield city centre collapses on man
The ceiling of a city centre shop in Sheffield collapsed on a man earlier today, forcing the business to close.
Emergency services were called to Sainsbury’s Local on Sheffield High Street just after midday on Monday (September 28) in response to the incident.

It is reported that part of the ceiling collapsed, landing on a man who did not suffer any serious injuries.
A handwritten sign has been placed on the door of Sainsbury’s, reading “We are closed until further notice.
“We apologise for any inconvenience.”

Eye-witness Jake Mzozik said he had been told the injured man had only recently come out of hospital after a back operation.
He said: "He was hit on the head when the ceiling fell in. It was like a domino effect with the tiles coming down.
"The firemen and the ambulance crews were in there for a long time."
He said the shop was cordoned off for around an hour and a half.
There were four police cars, three fire engines and two ambulances he added, with red and white tape stretched across High Street on both sides of the shop.
It resulted in disruptions to all of the Supertram routes, which were not able to serve any stop between Shalesmoor and Sheffield Railway Station.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At 12.09pm today (Monday, September 28) we received reports of an industrial accident on High Street, Sheffield.
“It is reported a part of the ceiling of a commercial premises collapsed, landing on a man.
“The man did not suffer any serious injuries.”
