Acomb Explore Library in York is among the UK’s best-rated public libraries, according to a study of hundreds of libraries.
It came joint fourth in the national rankings, with an average Google rating of 4.83 stars from 78 reviews.
It was the only Yorkshire library to reach the UK top 10.
Dawn Yates, an education assistance expert at Single mothers guide, said: "Libraries are one of the few places left where a family can spend a whole afternoon without spending a penny, and reviews like these show how much people value the ones that get it right.
"Borrowing books costs nothing, most libraries have free computers and wifi, and many run homework clubs and rhyme times for babies and toddlers, which all helps when money is tight.
"It’s worth checking what your local library puts on, because a lot of it is free and plenty of families don’t know it’s there."
Single Mothers Guide compiled the rankings by analysing Google ratings for 640 UK public libraries with at least 50 reviews.
The ranking excluded libraries linked to universities, schools or leisure centres, plus those with fewer than 50 reviews.
