Fire crews called to suspected arson at derelict Grade II-listed mills in Bradford

An instance of suspected arson led crews to a long-derelict Bradford mill.

Crews were called to the Midlands Mills, on Valley Road, just after 4.30pm yesterday (Sunday).

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two crews attended the small fire on the ground floor of the derelict mill.

"One hose reel jet was used to extinguish this.

"It's been recorded as suspected deliberate ignition."

History of Midlands Mills

The site is a grade II-listed and was originally built in 1871.

It was home to the British Mohair Suppliers until 2001.
