Amanda Owen and her family are welcoming new four-legged arrivals to Ravenseat following the death of their beloved dog Chalky.

Animals have always been central to life on the Owen family's remote Swaledale farm.

But Chalky's death left the family mourning one of their best-known pets.

Now Wise Owl Films, the production company behind Our Farm Next Door, has revealed there will be new arrivals in the fourth series.

The company said: "Following the passing of their beloved dog Chalky, there's some new four-legged additions to the farm causing chaos and keeping all the family on their toes."

The precise identity of the newcomers has not been revealed ahead of transmission, although it's understood that one of the puppies is called Dora.

But their arrival is expected to bring a new dynamic to a farm already full of animals.

Wise Owl Films said daily life at Ravenseat will continue as usual throughout the new series.

The family will care for "a huge flock of sheep, plus cows, goats, horses and ponies, peacocks and chickens".

The new arrivals will join that already busy collection.

The series was filmed between winter 2025 and spring 2026.

Christmas Day celebrations will feature before the family heads through winter and into the demanding Easter lambing period.

The children will also take on new roles.

Edith will prepare to run the cream tea van, Sid will face his tractor test, and Nancy continues to dream of being both a farmer and ballerina.

Work at Anty John's will continue alongside all of that.

The plastered walls are finally dry enough for decorating, and the family will tackle the challenge of getting piped water across the moors.

The new animals will therefore arrive during an already eventful period for the Owens.

But after Chalky's death, their appearance is likely to be one of the more emotional developments in the new series.

Our Farm Next Door returns to More4 on Monday, October 5.
