A North East mum is opening a play café where children can have fun while parents enjoy coffee and company.

The café, designed to bring together parents, carers and young children, is set to open its doors at Wynyard Park this autumn.

Jellybean Play Café will open at Roseberry Place, Wynyard Park, with a cosy family space and role-play area to inspire creative play.

Owner Georgi Singh has collected the keys and hopes to welcome her first customers in November.

Sharing the milestone on social media, she said: "We've got the keys. Exciting times are ahead.

"Things are officially in full swing as we work towards opening our doors in November."

The café will serve drinks and refreshments alongside dedicated play areas, giving parents and carers time to relax while their children play.

Georgi said life as a mother of two in Wynyard inspired Jellybean Play Café.

She said: "As a mum of two, I know first-hand just how isolating parenthood can sometimes feel, especially during those early newborn days.

"Whether you're unable to drive after having a baby, juggling more than one little one, or simply desperate to get out of the house for a change of scenery, finding somewhere that feels genuinely welcoming isn't always easy."

Living in Wynyard showed her how few local options families with young children had.

"Living in Wynyard really made me realise how few places there are locally for parents and carers with little ones," she said.

"I found myself, and still do, driving quite a distance just to find a good play café.

"Because, let's be honest, these days a play café is one of the few places I can actually relax when going out with my toddler.

"Somewhere they can play, explore and keep themselves entertained, while I get to sit down, have an actual conversation and enjoy a good cup of coffee and a slice of cake."

That experience inspired Jellybean Play Café.

"I wanted to create the kind of place I'd been searching for myself," Georgi said.

"A safe, welcoming and comfortable space where mums, dads, grandparents and carers can come together.

"Somewhere grown-ups can enjoy a proper cup of coffee and a delicious slice of cake while their little ones play, explore and have fun nearby.

"But more than anything, I want Jellybean to become a little community.

"A place where parents and carers feel supported and welcome, where little ones are happy, and where nobody has to feel quite so alone."

Georgi has received support on social media.
