Farm Safety and Wellbeing Take Centre Stage at Future Farmers Autumn Debate

Farm safety is set to top the agenda this November as the annual Future Farmers Autumn Debate returns to the Pavilions of Harrogate.

This year’s headline theme has been confirmed as “Heads Up: Practical Steps for a Safe and Productive Farm.” The popular evening event will take place onMonday 23 November 2026, bringing together forward-thinking agricultural workers, veterinary professionals, and industry experts from across the region.

Organised in conjunction with the Yorkshire Rural Support Network and sponsored by independent insurance brokers McClarrons, the panel debate will focus on the proactive, everyday actions that rural businesses can implement to boost efficiency, protect personal wellbeing, and reduce operational risks.

Safety and proactive risk management

The event structure opens at 6:00 PM with a free supper and a dedicated networking session for members and local businesses, followed by the main panel discussion starting at 7:30 PM. Attendees will also be eligible to claim two BASIS points for participating in the seasonal debate.

Sally Connor, Business Development Executive in McClarrons’ Farm team said:

McClarrons is proud to support the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s Future Farmers Evening. As an independent insurance broker with a long-standing connection to the agricultural community, we understand the everyday risks faced by rural businesses.

The evening will focus on safety and proactive risk management, themes that align closely with our Better Sorted Than Sorry campaign, which shares practical advice throughout the farming calendar and encourages farmers to think ahead, identify potential risks and take action before problems arise.

Launched originally in 2010 by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, the Future Farmers of Yorkshire network has grown to include more than 1,000 members across the agricultural sector, spanning tenant farmers, land managers, owner-occupiers, and employees.

A complete lineup of expert guest speakers is expected to be unveiled closer to the event date. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance via the official Yorkshire Agricultural Society Ticket Box Office.
