In order to address the behaviour and reduce the risk of future offending, the young person has been referred to complete a Fire Safe Course delivered by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. The course is designed to educate young people about the dangers and potential consequences of fire-setting, whilst encouraging positive decision-making in the future.

PC Nicholas Woods of the Tadcaster and Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Deliberately setting fires can have serious consequences, placing members of the public, emergency services, wildlife and property at risk. Whilst this incident was resolved through a CRD, it is important that young people understand the dangers associated with fire-setting behaviour. I welcome the young person’s acceptance of responsibility and hope that the Fire Safe Course will provide a valuable opportunity for education and reflection.”
