OLDER residents are coming together to learn new skills, connect with others, and enjoy a welcoming community space.

The Airedale Seniors Collective recently held its second gathering at Silsden Methodist Church, following a successful launch in June.

The collective is a mobile community hub run by Spellman Care for people aged 65 and over across the Aire Valley.

The event featured creative workshops and social activities aimed at reducing loneliness and encouraging connection.

A spokesperson for the Airedale Seniors Collective, said: "The event proved to be a wonderful celebration of community spirit, creativity, and connection, reinforcing the collective’s core mission to brighten lives, combat social isolation, and provide a welcoming, supportive space for local seniors."

Attendees took part in activities including crochet, jewellery making, and IT support, while singer May provided live entertainment.

Community partners also shared information about services for older people, including Olive & Green, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Keighley Lions Club, Keighley Dementia Advice Community Group, Carelink Befriending Scheme, and The Thursday Club.

Organisers are now appealing for volunteers to help with future events, whether regularly or on an ad-hoc basis.

Anyone interested in volunteering, sharing ideas, or learning more about upcoming gatherings can contact the group by emailing info@airedaleseniors.co.uk.
