A Big Brother housemate has quit the show for the first time in eight years.

Charlotte, 18, from Oxford, left the ITV reality show on Saturday (September 26) following what has been described as a "crazy few days" in the house.

Her departure comes just a day after Chelsey was evicted from the series.

A Big Brother spokesperson, in a statement to The Sun, said: "Charlotte has made the decision to leave the Big Brother house and viewers will see her departure in tomorrow [Sunday, September 27] night’s show.

"We thank her for being a fantastic housemate."

Charlotte is the first civilian contestant to walk out since the show's return on ITV.

The last voluntary exit was Kay Lovelle in 2018, during the final series on Channel 5.

A source told The Sun: "Charlotte had already opened up to housemates about how she felt a bit lost among the madness."

"It’s been an absolutely crazy few days with the tennis balls, then chicken gate, then the eviction.

"Charlotte woke up this morning [Saturday, September 26] and decided the experience just wasn’t for her and she’d rather be at home with family.

"She’s so grateful for the chance but made the decision to leave and is now on her way home."

One person, posting on X (formerly Twitter), said: "I am gutted that Charlotte has quit Big Brother.

"I have really enjoyed having her on my screen."

Another added: "I had backed her as the winner, she was a great ambassador for finding the positive in adversity."
