I taste tested Greggs new Autumn menu - I can't believe my favourite

A food influencer has declared himself "hooked" on a menu item from Greggs’ latest seasonal launch.

Kai Fleet, from Southwark, filmed a taste test of the bakery chain’s autumn menu, available in Greggs stores across Bradford, and was particularly surprised by the steak and stilton bake, despite his usual dislike for blue cheese.

Mr Fleet, 27, said: "I'm honestly quite surprised I like the steak and stilton bake so much, I really didn't think I was going to like it.

"I'm not a fan of stilton, I do not like it at all.

"It took me by surprise that it actually worked weirdly.

"It's a very, very strong cheese and I don't like the taste it leaves in your mouth afterwards.

"I don't like the smell of it, I think the smell of it is what actually puts me off the most.

"It's a bit sickening."

Despite his reservations, he rated the £2.50 bake 9.2 out of 10 and revealed he has since bought five more.

Mr Fleet said: "I gave the steak and stilton bake the highest score purely because I was so surprised I liked it.

"I really thought I was going to bite into it and be like 'this is not good.'

"I'm surprised they discontinued it, it's crazy."

Greggs last sold a similar steak and stilton roll in 2019.

Mr Fleet spent £23 on eight of the 13 new menu items and filmed the review in his car on September 3.

Other items included the pumpkin spice iced latte with salted caramel drizzle, iced chocolate drink, and buffalo chicken pizza.

Second place in his ranking went to the £4.30 pumpkin spice iced matcha latte, which he described as having the "perfect taste" and being more affordable than similar drinks at other coffee shops.

He said: "With the matcha it can go one or two ways, it can either be a really good matcha or a terrible matcha and that was definitely a good matcha.

"I think it's the fact they've got a really good amount of syrup in it.

"It's not too much or too little and it's the perfect taste as well.

"It's exactly what it says on the packaging.

"You drink what you expect."

He said he now prefers Greggs’ pumpkin spice matcha latte over his usual coffee shop choice, calling the menu "very reasonable" for the price.

Tied for third place were the £1.50 pumpkin spice and vanilla custard cream doughnuts, which he described as "very fresh," though he felt the custard cream doughnut could have used more filling.

His least favourite item was the £1.75 bonfire toffee muffin, which he described as having a "sickly sugary taste."

Mr Fleet said: "I can see why people would like it but it was very sweet.

"I actually have a very sweet tooth but I think toffee has a very sickly, sugary taste.

"I think there might have been too much filing in that one."

Despite the mixed reviews, he praised the overall menu and encouraged others to give it a try.

He said: "It's a really strong menu and they did really well with their menu.

"I wouldn't necessarily say the steak and stilton bake is autumnal but I guess it's a warm bake.

"I'm glad they did include it though because I got to try it at the same time.

"It's definitely going to become part of my weekly rotation."

He also praised the affordability and quality of the Greggs treats.

He said: "I just love how affordable it is.

"It's a really good quality tasting treat and it's literally a couple of quid."
