A CADET squadron has received a funding boost to help replace equipment lost in a flood.

The Shipley and Baildon Royal Air Force Cadets were awarded a £4,040 grant from the West Riding Freemasons, sponsored by the Baildon-based Corinthian Lodge.

The funding was used to replace IT and outdoor adventure equipment damaged during flooding in the Aire Valley.

Richard Knowles, past master of Corinthian Lodge, said: "We were delighted to sponsor a grant for the Cadets as part of our programme to engage with the Shipley and Baildon communities.

"It was great to hear that the cadets appreciated our support, and we were very impressed with the way in which they are putting their new equipment to use."

The grant, provided through the West Riding Masonic Charities Limited’s Community Fund, funded the purchase of an interactive smart display unit and new adventure gear.

On Monday, September 21, members of Corinthian Lodge visited the squadron’s headquarters on Green Lane in Shipley to see the equipment in use.

Mr Knowles said the squadron came to the lodge’s attention after visiting to demonstrate their skills.

The loss of equipment led Corinthian Lodge members to explore how they could support the cadets.
