A man was airlifted to hospital after falling from a motorbike near a County Durham quarry.
Emergency services including mountain rescue teams and the air ambulance were called to the Broadwood Quarry in Frosterley at 2.13pm on Saturday (September 26).
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called for a rider who had fallen from a motorbike near the Broadwood Quarry area of Frosterley.
"We requested mountain rescue service to support us because of the difficult terrain to reach the patient.
"We also dispatched the air ambulance, an emergency ambulance crew and two hazardous area response teams and treated one person before conveying him to hospital."
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) said its critical care team was activated following reports of a “sport and leisure incident” and took the patient to the RVI in ten minutes.
A spokesperson added: “We had two paramedics and a doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 4.05pm.
“Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient."
