NORTH Yorkshire Police has issued an update after counterfeit £20 notes were used in a £640 mobile phone sale in a North Yorkshire coastal town earlier this year.

The sale took place in North Marine Road, Scarborough on Wednesday, May 27 at 4.04pm.

A force spokesperson said the victim exchanged the phone for cash and the buyer then left.

In a statement issued earlier this week (Wednesday, September 24) a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said enquiries remain ongoing at this time and no arrests have been made.
