RAIL passengers in York travelling on parts of the East Coast Main Line are set for disruption this weekend as buses replace trains due to engineering work.
National Rail said the works are taking place today (Saturday, September 26) and tomorrow.
York-based train operators LNER and Northern services are affected, along with CrossCountry, Lumo, ScotRail and TransPennine Express.
Engineering works are closing all railway lines between Newcastle, Dunbar and Edinburgh, with no trains running on several routes, a National Rail spokesperson said.
A National Rail spokesperson said LNER trains will not run via Berwick-upon-Tweed - an hourly service will instead travel via Carlisle between Newcastle and Edinburgh, but journeys will take longer.

Buses will also run, calling at Morpeth, Alnmouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Reston and Dunbar.
Northern will replace trains with buses between Northumberland Park and Ashington, and between Newcastle and Morpeth or Chathill.
Tickets can be used at no extra cost on the Tyne & Wear Metro between Newcastle and Northumberland Park.
TransPennine Express trains will not run between Newcastle and Edinburgh. Replacement buses will operate on that route.
Passengers are advised to check the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner before travelling and those using replacement vehicles should allow extra time, as buses may be busier than usual.
Pick-up and drop-off points are shown on station signs and the National Rail website.
Accessibility and bicycle advice is available online.
