MORE than 300 horse and rider combinations are set to compete in this year’s British Eventing Horse Trials.
The event will take place at Askham Bryan College, near York, on October 10 and 11, with riders travelling from across the country to compete in dressage, showjumping, and cross-country.
Classes will range from BE80 to Novice level.
Sarah Verney, British Eventing technical advisor for the competition, said: "It is a fantastic event, with a great cross-country course.
"European Champion, Olympic Team Gold Medallist and dual Badminton and Burghley winner Ros Canter was very impressed when she brought some young horses last year.
"It is a great event which attracts some of the best riders in the country; it's very well run with a friendly, welcoming team.
"A great way to spend a day out in the beautiful countryside surrounding Askham Bryan College."
The event will also provide hands-on experience for students, who will support stewarding, fence judging, and other operational roles.
Flo Clarkson, head of agriculture and equine at Askham Bryan College, said: "We're incredibly proud to host an affiliated British Eventing competition.
"It showcases not only a fantastic sporting event, but also the commitment and teamwork of our students and staff across the College."
Spectator entry is free.
