A North Yorkshire training provider has secured funding to help tackle driver shortages by training more HGV and bus drivers
Family-run Wetherby Training will deliver HGV and PCV (bus and coach) Skills Bootcamps, creating jobs and helping career changers across the region.
Laura, co-owner of Wetherby Training, said: "A trained bus driver isn’t just operating a vehicle, they’re supporting families, schools, businesses and the wider community.
"This funding means we can help more local people step into those roles."
The HGV bootcamp comes as logistics and haulage firms across the region face demand for more drivers.
The programmes will support small and medium-sized transport businesses, rural operators, major logistics firms and community and school transport providers.
Laurie, also of Wetherby Training, said: "This is a proud moment for us as a small independent business.
"We’re committed to delivering training that genuinely makes a difference, not just for learners, but for the whole region.
"We’re excited to help even more people build futures they’re proud of.
"Transport is essential to everyday life and now, thanks to this funding, we can help shape the future of North Yorkshire’s workforce."
