Donald Trump’s bluster on AI shows he’s the real danger to the world - Yorkshire Post Letters

We seem to be surrounded by threats to peace and the future of humanity. I suggest that this situation is not due as much to Russia, China or Iran as it is to Donald Trump.

Trump is under the mistaken belief, many times disproven, that he can solve any international problem by force of personality. The list of disasters that stem from this belief include solving the Ukraine war on his first day in office and going to war with Iran in the face of advice to the contrary.

Trump believes that climate change is a hoax. If he has the high IQ he claims, how can he possibly believe that? The evidence of its reality mounts every day and reinforces the opinions of the scientists who truly understand what is happening.

Now Trump claims, again in the face of informed opinion, that Artificial Intelligence requires no regulation and is another "hoax".

The frightening reality is that this man, exhibiting all the symptoms of a psychopath, is the leader of the most powerful country on earth and even the voters in his own country are seemingly unwilling to challenge his madness, despite overwhelming evidence that he is truly an existential threat to the planet.

I understand that even senior Republican politicians are appalled at the situation but all seem scared to do anything about it which is truly pathetic.

The USA is the biggest per capita polluter on the planet. It is also home to the fast advancing science of AI. It is essential for us all that the USA gets a grip and reins in Trump.
