A MAIN road in a North Yorkshire town has closed for roadworks as concerns are raised over the cost and length of time being taken.
Railway Street in Malton is expected to be shut to traffic for two days while a new zebra crossing is installed.
The one way system on Norton Road has been temporarily lifted while the work is carried out.
Cllr Keane Duncan, who represents Norton on North Yorkshire Council, said: "I have contacted the highways team to challenge the length of the works (three weeks) and ask for the total cost.
"I have also requested improved signage during the closure."
