Helmsley will host the penultimate stage of a national cycling race.
The Tour of Britain race begins on Saturday, September 5, and marks the second time in four years that the event has called at the North Yorkshire town.
Riders will take on a 165km route to Leyburn, setting off at 11am and passing through Ampleforth, Newburgh Priory, and Oulston in the Howardian Hills.
A full day of family-friendly entertainment is planned as part of the launch of the Heart of Helmsley project, a £204,000 scheme to improve local facilities and accessibility over the next 16 months.
Ellie Hook, manager of the Howardian Hills National Landscape, said: "A big screen will show the entire race so bring a chair and get comfortable.
"Plus there will be live music, street theatre, pump bike trail and competitions, all designed to make it a tremendous day out for residents and visitors alike."
The scheme has received £149,150 from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Mayoral High Street Fund.
Carolyn Frank, of Libby Butler Jewellers who helped secure Heart of Helmsley funding, said: "Helmsley is famous for its warm welcome and residents and businesses are looking forward to this special fun day with the combined Tour of Britain race and kick-off for the Heart of Helmsley project.
"Both show off our vibrant town and community spirit."
Tour of Britain workers will start erecting barriers around Market Square on the evening of Friday, September 4.
Parking will reopen after the event concludes at 3.30pm on September 5.
