Harrogate MP set for Great North Run in aid of local hospice

Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Tom Gordon is preparing to take part in the Great North Run in aid of Saint Michael's Hospice.

The Liberal Democrat MP will tackle the half-marathon on Sunday 13th September, having set a fundraising target of £500.

It will be his fourth consecutive Great North Run for the Harrogate hospice, following appearances in 2023, 2024 and 2025 which raised more than £1,000.

Mr Gordon will also host a palliative care coffee morning from 10am on Friday 4th September as part of his Talk with Tom series.

The free event will give residents an opportunity to hear about his work in Parliament to increase funding for palliative care and support local hospice services.

Mr Gordon said:

“If you’ve had a loved one receive care at Saint Michael’s, you know how good they are. We are so lucky to have them.

“I’m proud to bang the drum for their funding at a national level and do the Great North Run – every penny counts.”

People canregister for the coffee morning or donate to Mr Gordon’s fundraiseronline.
