The St Leonard’s Hospice clothing and homeware shop in Acomb will reopen after a new refurb.
It is set to reopen this Friday, 28 August.
Located in the Regents Building on York Road, the shop, which first opened in 1991, was the first-ever St Leonard’s Hospice shop.
It is now the fifth of the Hospice’s outlets to adopt a new style, along with shops in Selby (Gowthorpe), Malton, Pocklington and Colliergate (York).
The newly refurbished shop features contemporary fixtures and fittings, digital screens at the till and in the window, and more room for sorting and storing donations from the community.
It will continue to stock quality pre-loved fashion, homewares and books.
Sarah Baldock, retail area manager at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to transform the shop into one that we know our Acomb community will love even more.
“It’ll provide a nicer shopping experience for visitors, and a place where people can continue to donate their pre-loved items, particularly now that our Donation Centre has moved to Clifton Moor.
“We rely on the generosity of our community to help us raise £7.5million every year for our services at the Hospice, in people’s homes and in community spaces. We now have 15 charity shops in York and the surrounding area, and one in 10 of our patients at St Leonard’s is cared for thanks to people shopping with us.
“We’ve had such loyal support from the Acomb community for 35 years, and we really hope people will love what we’ve done with their local shop. We look forward to serving them for many years to come.”
The Regent Buildings shop will officially re-open on Friday 28 August at 10am.
Regular opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9am to 4.30pm, with the exception of the bank holiday (Monday 31 August), when the shop will be closed.
