York City today announced the signing of Jovan Malcolm, on loan from Stevenage.
The forward is with the club until January.
Malcolm, 23, started out in the academy at West Bromwich Albion at the age of six, and signed a new three-year contract with the club in 2021.
His first loan stint came at Accrington in summer 2021. In League One and all competitions, he featured 13 times for the Reds, scoring once.
Malcolm headed to National League side Solihull Moors briefly, before going on to make his first-team debut back at West Brom in 2023 against Chesterfield in the FA Cup, scoring his first Baggies goal in the process.
Cheltenham acquired his services soon after, although that spell only lasted for ten games, with the striker released from West Brom at the end of the 2023/24 season.

He found a home at Gateshead for the following campaign, and scored nine in the National League, including braces against Wealdstone and Forest Green Rovers.
Malcolm appeared twice against the Minstermen that season and also netted in three of the Heed’s four games in the National League Cup.
The striker signed for Stevenage at the beginning of last term and scored once, before spending the second half of the season at Barrow.
Now, he joins Scott Lindsey’s team to strengthen our attack as we continue our first season back in League Two.
Speaking to us after putting pen to paper, Malcolm said: “I’m delighted to be here. I have always admired the club and what they have done over the last few years, so being able to get this over the line has been brilliant for me.”
Having played on the LNER Community Stadium turf on New Year’s Day 2025, City’s new signing admitted he was influenced by what he saw: “To be honest, when I came here (with Gateshead), I was surprised by the fanbase, the set-up, and the stadium, and it really left a good impression on me.”
