A warning has been issued following the theft of overhead cables from street lighting infrastructure in Bradford.
Bradford Council has warned residents after thieves allegedly used a white Transit van fitted with a hoist to steal the cables across the district.
A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: "Overhead cables from street lighting infrastructure are being stolen across the district.
"Those responsible are believed to be using a white transit van with a hoist (MEWP), similar in appearance to council lighting vehicles.
"The thefts are being carried out during the day and have affected both rural areas and urban back streets."
The thefts come amid a wider wave of organised crime targeting copper cable, with charging-network operator Osprey saying such incidents are "not an isolated incident".
The council urged residents to stay alert and report anything suspicious.
The spokesperson added: "If you notice anything suspicious, please contact the police immediately by calling 101.
"Thank you for helping to protect our local communities."
