MOTORISTS are being urged not to panic buy fuel.
The warning comes ahead of the bank holiday weekend, as travellers prepare for one last summer getaway.
Matt Crole-Rees, motoring expert at Confused.com, said: "As motorists make the most of the final long weekend of the summer to head away for a break, demand for fuel is likely to climb.
"But drivers shouldn't feel pressured to rush out and fill up unnecessarily."
He advised that panic buying can put additional strain on supplies and lead to disruption at petrol stations.
Instead, he encouraged motorists to focus on improving fuel efficiency.
This includes removing excess weight from vehicles, ensuring tyres are inflated to the correct pressure, and avoiding unnecessary engine idling.
Mr Crole-Rees said: "Fuel prices can vary widely between regions and retailers.
