Home Bargains stores across the North East will be closed on a major retail day later this year.
The discount retailer announced stores would be closed on Boxing Day, as part of a three-day shutdown around the festive period.
Home Bargains will close more than 600 UK stores will be on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day - that includes 33 Home Bargains branches across County Durham, Darlington, Teesside, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
The closure means shoppers will not be able to visit Home Bargains on Boxing Day — traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year, when many high street and retail park stores begin their post-Christmas sales.
Home Bargains, founded in 1976, employs around 28,000 people and sells homeware, garden and outdoor goods, toys, food, branded products and seasonal items.

Home Bargains has not yet confirmed its festive opening hours for Christmas Eve, December 27, New Year’s Eve or January 2.
Customers planning a shop over the festive period are advised to check their local branch’s hours before travelling.
