The North East's air ambulance charity is inviting families to a bank holiday fun day packed with entertainment, activities and emergency services displays to help raise funds for its life-saving work across the region.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) will host its annual Helifest event on Monday, August 31 at its headquarters, Progress House on Urlay Nook Road.
Running from 11am to 4pm, the event promises a full day of fun for all ages with live entertainment, food vendors, and a wide range of activities.

Attractions will include giant inflatables, a climbing wall, soft archery, and charity games.
The popular Gosling Raptors display will also return, offering visitors the chance to see birds of prey up close.
Food and drink will be available at the event’s Food Plaza, which will serve burgers, street food, coffee, ice cream and sweet treats.
Stall Central will feature independent stalls offering gifts, sweet treats and unique finds from local traders.

The Emergency Services Zone will allow visitors to explore emergency vehicles and learn more about the teams who help keep communities safe.
A highlight of the day will be the opportunity to see GNAAS’ helicopter up close and learn about the specialist equipment used in critical care emergencies.
Guests will also be able to meet members of the charity’s critical care team.

Helicopter tours will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Visitors can also relax at the charity’s on-site coffee house, Hangar 63, which will be open throughout the event.

Entry is £1 per person, with all proceeds going directly to support GNAAS.
Parking, including disabled access, will be available on site, and stewards will be present to assist visitors.
