Search the Public Notice Portal New traffic restrictions, cycle lanes, and traffic-calming measures are set to be introduced in a North-East town.
Middlesbrough Council announced new measures that will affect central and north areas of the town and are detailed in a public notice issued by the council.
The proposed changes include amendments to waiting, loading, and parking rules.
In particular, Hartington Road and Newport Road will see changes to no-waiting periods, with certain areas being restricted all day, every day.
Additionally, Newport Road and Parliament Road will have new no-loading zones, with all-day restrictions on some parts.
The council has also announced changes to bus lanes.
Some lanes on Newport Road will be removed, while others will be added.
Mandatory cycle lanes will also be introduced on Parliament Road and Gilkes Street.
The cycle lane on Parliament Road will be eastbound, while the one on Gilkes Street will be eastbound and one-way.
Traffic-calming measures will also be introduced on certain roads.
These will include full-width raised flat-top road humps at specific points on Parliament Road and at the Gilkes Street and Harris Street junction.
The humps are expected to have maximum dimensions of up to 5.5m by 15m and a maximum height of 100mm.
The changes are being proposed under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Highways Act 1980.
The council has consulted with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with the regulations.

Exemptions to the new rules will apply to any vehicle used for emergency purposes by the fire brigade, ambulance, or police.
