A car retailer has expanded its presence in the electric vehicle market through a new partnership with fast-growing Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor, becoming the first Vertu site to represent the brand.

Vertu Motors has teamed up with Leapmotor to launch its first dealership representing the brand at its Vauxhall site in Harrogate, located on St James Retail Park in Knaresborough.

Richard Burleigh, general manager at Vertu Leapmotor Harrogate, said: "We’re delighted to introduce Leapmotor to the dealership, and are proud to have been chosen as the first Vertu sites to represent a new and innovative brand.

"The Leapmotor range offers fantastic value for customers looking to make the move to electric motoring, and we look forward to welcoming new and existing customers to the dealership to experience the vehicles for themselves."

Leapmotor entered the European market in 2024 following a joint venture between Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor and Stellantis, the global automotive group behind Vauxhall, Citroën, and Peugeot.

The venture, Leapmotor International, is responsible for sales outside China and launched the T03 city car and C10 family SUV in the UK last year.

The T03 is one of the most affordable electric vehicles currently on sale in the UK.

The Leapmotor line-up in the UK now includes four fully electric models: the T03, C10, B10 SUV, and B05 hatchback.

There are also range-extender versions of the B10 and C10 for customers not ready to go fully electric.

Vertu Leapmotor Harrogate operates alongside Vertu Vauxhall Harrogate, with both brands supported by a full range of new and used vehicles and aftersales services.

Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu, said: "This new relationship with Leapmotor is another exciting moment for the Group, and provides us with even more choice for customers who are looking to make the transition to electric motoring.

"With a range that offers huge value for money, including one of the cheapest EVs on sale in the UK, we look forward to working with Leapmotor to support the brand’s growth and are proud to add them to the expansive list of manufacturers that we represent."
