Fox News personality Laura Ingraham has urged Republicans to “get their act together” as the midterm elections draw near.
The midterm elections are scheduled to be held, in large part, on November 3, almost two years to the day that voters went to the polls to choose either then-former President Trump or then-Vice President Kamala Harris to become the next commander-in-chief.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Ingraham Angle, the show’s host warned Republicans that they may face stiff competition from Democratic candidates, singling out Iowa as just one example.
“I think there are a number of states that Republicans better get their act together,” she said. “Iowa is one of them.”
Ned Ryun, the CEO of America Majority, joined Ingraham on the episode and warned that the GOP risks losing control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“We’ve got to kick it into gear over these next ten weeks, or we’re looking at not only losing the House but losing the Senate as well,” he said.
Currently, the Republicans hold slim majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
In the House, Republicans control 218 seats compared to the Democrats' 215 seats.
Meanwhile, in the Senate, the Republicans enjoy a 53-45 majority over the Democrats and two independent senators. The two independents usually vote with the Democrats.
Ryun went on to say that there was apathy among some GOP candidates and that some voters feel that the Republicans have not followed through on some of their campaign promises, despite winning a huge victory in 2024.
“Some people are thinking: ‘We gave Republicans all the power in ‘24 - House, Senate, White House…Really didn’t follow through on some of these promises,’” he said.
“The Senate is thumbing their nose at the base over the SAVE America Act, gas is $4.10 a gallon,” he continued. “You know, they’re not seeing a lot of the things they voted for. The Iran war is killing us.”
Ingraham and Ryun were also joined in their discussion by Michael LaRosa, a former press secretary to former First Lady Jill Biden, with the three discussing the then-ongoing South Carolina Republican U.S. Senate primary runoff.
Senator Darline Graham, the sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, has since won the primary. She had received an endorsement from Trump, who even appeared on stage beside her to support her campaign.
Ryun, though, warned that a victory for Graham in November’s election is not a “given.”
“I don’t think it’s a given. Andrews is gonna be a tough candidate in the general,” he said, referring to Dr Annie Andrews, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate.
“I think Republicans are kind of whistling past the graveyard on some of these Senate seats that they thought were safe,” Ryun added, specifically highlighting South Carolina, Nebraska, Ohio, Alaska and Iowa as examples.
