London to York rail services disrupted after person hit by train

Rail services have been disrupted today after a person was hit by a train.

LNER train services between London King's Cross and Peterborough have been affected following the incident, according to the rail operator.

No services are departing London King's Cross or Peterborough until further notice, with some trains delayed, altered, or cancelled at short notice, said an LNER spokesperson.

Affected passengers, which will include many people heading to York and North Yorkshire today, are being advised to check their journeys carefully.

LNER has confirmed that passengers with cancelled train tickets can use them on other LNER services, with the requirement to make a new seat reservation.

Train managers on affected services are keeping passengers updated on the situation and the impact on their journeys.

For those waiting at stations, LNER advised to listen for announcements or to speak with a member of the station staff.

Passengers unable to complete their journeys on the day of the incident were advised to speak to station staff for potential hotel accommodation.

Under the Delay Repay scheme, passengers delayed by more than 30 minutes compared to their scheduled arrival time may be entitled to compensation.

Those who booked directly with LNER and opted into the One-click Delay Repay scheme should receive an email within 48 hours.

For full refunds, passengers who chose not to travel due to the disruption can contact their original point of purchase.
