A York restaurant has been named one of the top 50 pizzerias in Europe.
Cresci, the popular pizzeria at 20 Piccadilly, is included in the 50 Top Pizza Europa 2026 guide for Excellent Pizzerias.
The prestigious 50 Top Pizza guide, described as ‘the first and most important pizzeria guide in the world’, is curated and co-created by food writers and critics Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere.

And Cresci has made the guide – and is the only pizzeria in Yorkshire on the list, with other UK locations including London, Edinburgh, and Bournemouth.
Cresci Pizzeria was opened in April 2020 by lifelong friends Armando Imparato and Berardo Caggiano, whose dream was ‘to bring the warmth, flavour, and tradition of Southern Italy to the people of York through authentic Neapolitan pizza.’
Here’s what the 50 Top Pizza guide had to say about Cresci:
In the center of York, Cresci stands out for its proposal that looks at Neapolitan tradition with technical skill and a well-controlled contemporary sensibility.
The project is based on a light and well-developed dough, designed to enhance selected ingredients and pairings built with balance. The atmosphere is informal yet curated, with a lively ambiance that makes the place suitable for both a quick stop and a more relaxed dinner.
The menu alternates between classic pizzas and more modern interpretations, always maintaining a consistent and recognizable line.
Cresci impresses with clarity of identity, good execution, and an uncommon ability to remain faithful to a precise style without being predictable.
In response to the accolade, the team at Cresci wrote on social media that they were “incredibly proud to have been recognised as an Excellent Pizzeria by 50 Top Pizza Europa 2026.
“This recognition is a reflection of the hard work, passion and dedication our team puts in every day, both in the kitchen and on the floor.
“A huge thank you to all of our guests, regulars and supporters who have been part of the journey so far. We wouldn’t be here without you.”
