A butchers is urging customers to get behind a key member of staff who has been shortlisted for a national industry award.

A BUTCHERS is urging customers to get behind a key member of staff who has been shortlisted for a national industry award.

Lishman's of Ilkley has called on supporters to vote for Emma Lishman in the Craft Butchery category at the Women in Meat Industry Awards.

The company said Emma plays a vital role behind the scenes, overseeing areas including team development, marketing, customer communications and seasonal planning.

According to Lishman's, she was responsible for the vision behind the firm's recent rebrand and shop refurbishment and continues to work on improving operations while maintaining quality standards.

Emma also serves as vice chair of the Q Guild of Butchers and is studying for a BA in Sustainable Butchery and Gastronomy.

In her awards nomination, Emma was praised as being "more than a chip off the old block" of her father, David Lishman, and was credited with helping to drive the nationally acclaimed, award-winning family business forward.

The nomination states: "Emma has made her own mark on this nationally acclaimed, award-winning business, helping to drive it forward and further develop it."

It also highlights her role within the butchery trade, describing her as "a true champion of the craft butchery sector, with much to offer in support of and promotion of the industry" through her work as vice chair of the Q Guild.

Backing her nomination, the proposer added: "Recognition in your prestigious awards would reward her sterling work and impact to date."

In a social media post, Lishman's said: "While customers may occasionally spot Emma around the shop or helping in the bakery, much of her work takes place behind the scenes.

"She oversees many of the moving parts that keep the business running smoothly, from team development to marketing, customer communications and seasonal planning."
