AN exhibition will celebrate the art of tapestry weaving.
Tapestry of the North will open at Bankfield Museum in Halifax on September 12, running until March 6, 2027.
The exhibition features work by northern members of the British Tapestry Group.
The group began more than 20 years ago with a small group of weavers exhibiting in Hebden Bridge.
Sally Reckert, joint exhibition curator, said: "A tapestry is not just a picture.
"It’s often described as a conversation between the weaver, the threads and the loom, slowly brought to life by hand.
"This is art that is woven, not painted."
Visitors can expect a wide range of tapestry styles and techniques from established professionals and newer artists alike.
Many pieces will be available for purchase.
Workshops, 'Meet the Makers' and other events, including weaving and drawing in the Gallery, will also form part of the programme.
Bankfield Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
Admission is free.
