A WORLD-RENOWNED Sufi qawwali group is set to perform in West Yorkshire later this year.
Fanna-Fi-Allah will take to the stage at Bradford Live on Friday, September 18, 2026, as part of a four-city UK run.
The ensemble, led by harmonium player and vocalist Tahir Qawwal, is known for bringing the spiritual sound of qawwali from South Asian shrines to international audiences.
Mr Qawwal said: "This music was given to us by our teachers on the condition that we carry it honestly.
"We sing it the way it is sung at the shrines, seated on the floor, no shortcuts.
"Bradford has some of the most knowledgeable listeners anywhere in Britain, and playing a room like Bradford Live to a city that already understands qawwali is a real privilege."
The group has performed some 1,500 times worldwide over 25 years, remaining true to the traditional, acoustic style of qawwali.
Performances feature a seated ensemble with harmonium, tabla, clapping, and a whirling dervish.
Qawwali is a form of devotional Sufi music from South Asia, designed to open the heart rather than entertain.
Audience participation is encouraged, and no knowledge of Urdu, Punjabi, or Persian is required.
