Two suspected burglars have been arrested after police spent almost two hours searching a vast area of countryside.
North Yorkshire Police were called to a property in the village, near Richmond, at about 8.30pm on Monday, August 24, following reports of a burglary in progress.
Officers found signs of damage at the scene and learned two suspects had fled the area in a Vauxhall Insignia.
Shortly afterwards, police were told of a collision involving a Vauxhall and a stone pillar near Middleton Tyas.
The car’s occupants had abandoned it and run off, prompting officers to launch a large-scale foot search with canine support across fields and rural tracks.
