A man has been charged after a North East 'stab attack' left another with serious injuries.
The incident happened shortly after 9am on Monday, August 24, in the Cliff Road area of Ryhope.
Emergency services arrived to find a man in his 30s with injuries believed to have been caused by a blade.
Two men, aged 33 and 40, were arrested in connection with the incident.
The 40-year-old has been released on police bail.
Carl Robert Minto, 33, of Langhurst, Sunderland, has now been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (August 25).
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Just after 9am yesterday (Monday), we received a report of an injured person in the Cliff Road area of Ryhope in Sunderland.
"Upon emergency service arrival, a man in his 30s was found to have sustained serious injuries consistent with having caused by a bladed article.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening."
Police believe those involved were known to each other.
