A driver has been banned from the roads for two months after being caught speeding on the A1(M) in County Durham.
Ummar Younis, 29, of Chapel Lane, Scawby, North Lincolnshire, appeared before Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 13.
The court heard that Younis was driving a Volkswagen on the A1(M) between Junction 59 at Newton Aycliffe and Junction 60 at Bradbury when he exceeded the motorway’s 70mph speed limit.
The offence took place on February 14 and was detected using manned speed enforcement equipment.
Younis pleaded guilty to the speeding offence at the hearing.

He was disqualified from driving for 60 days and fined £461, with his guilty plea taken into account.
He was also ordered to pay £130 in costs and a £184 victim surcharge, taking the total financial penalty to £775.
A collection order was made, with Younis ordered to pay the amount in monthly instalments of £75 from September 10.
