A YELLOW warning has been issued for thunderstorms and heavy rain over York later this week - with lighting and hail expected.
The Met Office has issued a warning from 6am to 10pm on Thursday, August 27.
A spokesperson said: "A band of thunderstorms and heavy rain will move north across England and Wales, perhaps becoming slow moving in the afternoon and evening.

"Accumulations of 20-30 mm in three hours can be expected fairly widely and up to 50 mm in a 12 hour period can be expected in places.
"There is a small chance that some places may see more than 50 mm in three hours and more than 75 mm through 12 hours, especially over east facing high ground. Lightning and hail of 1-2 cm will also be hazards."
Today (August 25) will see some patchy low cloud in the morning, but will stay mostly dry, with spells of sunshine developing later and a maximum temperature of 22C.
Tomorrow will see low clouds start to lift, bringing bright and sunny spells with risk of thunderstorms later in the day and a maximum temperature of 25C.
There are currently yellow alerts in place for Wednesday (August 26) over parts of Manchester, Sheffield, and Doncaster for thunderstorms, but North Yorkshire is currently unaffected until the next day.
