A KEY York city centre road is closed as construction work continues on a new hotel.
Rougier Street is shut until 6pm tomorrow (Wednesday, August 26), with the positioning of machinery and equipment in the centre of the road.
City of York Council said the closure is for crane installation works.
As The Press went to the scene this morning, contractors on site confirmed the equipment is in place for the ongoing works involved in the construction of a new 140-bedroom Evans Dakota hotel on the site of former Northern House office block.

Road closure signs are placed at the Rougier Street junction with Station Road and Station Avenue, and further up at the crossroads with Tanner Row.
The entrance to George Hudson Street from Micklegate also has a road closure sign in place.

Access to George Hudson Street from Micklegate Bar via Bar Lane and Toft Green is still possible.

The closure of Rougier Street affects key bus routes from York Railway Station through the city centre, with more than a dozen services being affected.
